VA-SRA Minutes 9/14/1995

MCV/VCU, Richmond, VA

The business meeting was called to order by President Roberta Nixon, who then called upon first-time attendees to stand and introduce themselves by name and name of organization.

Old Business:

Minutes and Treasurer's Reports - Secretary/Treasurer Kelly Bowery read the minutes of the last meeting. They were approved as read. She then gave an informal treasurer's report, and told the membership that a formal spreadsheet would be presented at the next meeting.

Committee Reports - The president introduced the Nominating Committee (Sandi Christian/CIT, Jonathine Hine/UVA and Chuck Chermside/VCU), who will present a nominee for president-elect at the next meeting. Kelly Bowery will retain her Secretary/Treasurer position for one more year to provide continuity.

New Business:

Meetings - As evidenced by the evaluation forms, the majority of the membership feels that March and September time frames for meetings are reasonable. At this point of the meeting, a March 1996 meeting location was made firm by an invitation from the University of Richmond.

Membership Dues - The president brought to the attention of the attendees a Virginia Charter membership form, and requested that it be completed and returned to her with a payment of $15, due October 1st. In subsequent years, payment will be sent to the treasurer. The $15 fee is for the Virginia Chapter only, but anyone wishing to belong to the national organization can do so by contacting them and paying $110 dues, with a one-time $25 application fee.

After calling for and receiving no further business, the president adjourned the meeting.
