VA-SRA Minutes 12/9/1996

The Winter Meeting of the Virginia Chapter of the Society of Research Administrators (VASRA) was called to order at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 1996 in the Elizabeth River Room, Webb Center, Old Dominion University, Norfolk Virginia by Bob E. Wolfson, Chapter President.

The minutes of the June 10, 1996 meeting, which were distributed in the meeting packet, were adopted as presented. Mary Schamber, Chapter Secretary/Treasurer presented the Treasurer's report. As of the completion of the June, 1996 meeting, the Chapter has an accumulated balance of $2,025.13. The Treasurer's report was adopted as read.

A discussion of possible locations, dates and lengths for the next meeting took place. Most members were in favor of holding the meeting in April or May, 1997. Pat Buennemeyer, James Madison University, agreed to host the Spring meeting. The members in attendance agreed that it would be acceptable to hold the meeting in a hotel if needed. It was suggested that the Spring meeting be a one day meeting since Harrisonburg is centrally located. Bob Wolfson requested that everyone record their preferences on the evaluation sheet, and the exact date and location will be announced at a later date.

Bob Wolfson stated that he would be appointing a Nominating Committee prior to the next meeting for the offices of President-Elect and Secretary/Treasurer.

Bob Wolfson asked that everyone consider the use of Chapter funds to send someone to the Regional or National SRA meeting as suggested at the June 1996 meeting. A discussion will be held at the next meeting.

It was noted that it was snowing in Western Virginia and that some members may be leaving early.

Bill McDermott, University of Virginia, proposed a resolution to recognize the hard work and dedication demonstrated by Mary Schamber, Chapter Secretary/Treasurer. The motion was accepted unanimously.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 1:05 p.m.
