December 6, 2002 Business Meeting Minutes

The fall meeting of the Virginia Chapter of the Society of Research Administrators was held at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel, hosted by the College of William & Mary.

Betty Browder opened the business meeting. Anne Womack recognized and thanked Jeannette Morales in the Grants Office at William & Mary for all all she did to organize the meeting. The membership applauded, agreeing with the sentiment expressed.

The minutes from the June 6, 2002, business meeting were provided to the membership. A motion was made to approve the minutes and the minutes were adopted.

The treasurer's report was provided to the membership. The ending balance as of October 31, 2002 was $10,328.80. A motion was made to approve the report and the report was adopted.

Michael Glasgow offered Charlottesville as the site for the June 2003 meeting which would be hosted by the University of Virginia.

Volunteers for chapter officers were encouraged to contact Janet Hahn.

The membership was reminded that fellowship applications were available in their meeting packets. A suggestion was made to change the deadline date from March 15 to January 31 due to the timing of the Spring Southern Section meeting in Memphis. A motion was made to accept the change and the change was adopted.

Some discussion ensued regarding CRA recertification.

Dr. Michael Katz, the new Director of Industrial Partnerships at Virginia Commonwealth University, was introduced to the membership.

The membership was asked to think about which institution would host the December 2003 meeting

There being no other business, a motion was made to adjourn and the motion was adopted.
