President
- Presides over
two meetings per year, particularly the business meeting portion.
- Forwards letters
of appreciation to host site coordinator and meeting speakers after
each meeting.
- Assists President-elect
if needed with meeting plans.
- Appoints nominating
committee to create slate of officers for following year; asks nominees
if they will serve; finds replacement in the event a nominee must withdraw
before vote.
- Appoints a nominating
committee (usually president-elect, secretary, and treasurer) for travel
fellowship applications, if more than one, and presides over vote; notifies
successful applicant and treasurer.
- 3-4 times a year
submits to the international SRA magazine a short write-up describing
recent VA-SRA activities (usually through email)
- Assists in keeping
VA-SRA homepage and website current.
President-elect
- Appoints a planning
committee and oversees the creation of an agenda for two meetings a
year; acts as chief liaison in all things with meeting site hosts.
- Forwards letters
of invitation to speakers and honored guests.
- Assists with letters
of appreciation to speakers after each meeting, if able.
- Arranges for a
plaque of appreciation (reimbursed by chapter) to be presented at spring
meeting to outgoing officers.
- Performs duties
of president in president's absence.
Secretary
- Maintains all
historical secretarial records.
- Takes minutes
at each meeting and provides a hard copy to membership at the following
meeting, for approval during business portion.
- Maintains a spreadsheet
of the membership by name, title, address, telephone and fax number,
email address - provides to next site host.
- Prepares and
mails a hard copy circulation list each summer to current paid membership.
Treasurer
- Maintains all
historical treasurer's records and oversees VA-SRA treasury.
- Manages all accounts
receivable for meeting registration twice a year.
- Pays all bills,
including reimbursements to site universities for meeting expenses.
- Maintains a current
paid-membership list.
